Bitcoin is trading near $63,900 after another failed move through the mid-$60,000 range, leaving the market compressed around onchain cost-basis levels while spot participation falls to its weakest point in years.

BTC was recently at $63,859, with an intraday range between $63,267 and $64,298. The price remains roughly 49% below its October 2025 record above $126,000 and only about 9% above the June 30 low near $58,535.

Bitcoin Trades Between $63K And $68.7K Cost Bases

Bitcoin is now sitting almost directly on its $63,000 Median Realized Price, while the Short-Term Holder Cost Basis stands substantially higher at $68,700.

The latest Glassnode market analysis found that spot volume has fallen to its lowest level since 2019 while exchange activity remains subdued. Supply in profit has also moved toward levels associated with previous bear-market floors, although repeated recovery attempts have failed to hold above investor break-even levels.

Mining economics are adding another reference point. Estimates of Bitcoin production costs vary significantly by methodology, with recent models placing break-even levels from the low-$60,000s to above $75,000. The current price therefore sits inside a broad stress zone for miners rather than at a single definitive production-cost floor.

A break below $63,000 would put the June low near $58,500 back into focus. The stronger recovery level remains around $68,700, where recent rallies have repeatedly encountered holder supply.

Prediction Markets Split On Bitcoin Recovery

Prediction markets remain sharply divided over how far the current range can extend.

Polymarket traders currently price about a 69% chance that Bitcoin touches $70,000 before the end of 2026, while $75,000 trades near 51% and $80,000 near 32%. A return to $100,000 is priced at only about 9%.

Downside contracts are also elevated. Bitcoin falling below $60,000 before year-end trades near 79%, below $50,000 near 35% and below $35,000 near 8%. Those are market-implied prices tied to specific settlement rules rather than forecasts.

Kalshi is similarly cautious, pricing roughly a 41% probability that Bitcoin trades below $60,000 during August and only a 12% chance of reclaiming $100,000 before 2027.

ETF Inflows Have Yet To Trigger Breakout

Institutional flows have improved without producing a sustained price expansion. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs absorbed roughly $854 million between August 3 and August 7, finishing all five sessions with positive net flows.

The setup follows July’s weaker market, when Polymarket traders initially gave Bitcoin only a 21% chance of reaching $70,000 during the month.

Bitcoin remains between the $63,000 Median Realized Price and $68,700 Short-Term Holder Cost Basis, with the June low near $58,500 still marking the major downside level if the current range breaks.
